Day 1LondonArrival/Stratford-upon-Avon - Arrive in to London and meet your local Cultural Embrace travel guide. Transfer by motorcoach to your hotel in the Stratford area. A welcome lunch will be included en route. Check into your 3-star hotel and relax for the rest of the afternoon and evening.
Day 2Stratford-upon-AvonStratford-upon-Avon (B) - Begin your literature tour by visiting one of the world’s greatest dramatist and poet’s hometown--William Shakespeare! Visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace & his wife, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage. Your afternoon is at leisure to explore this charming town, or an optional tour to Warwick Castle can be organized for your group members. Enjoy a performance by the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company. (In the event that it is closed, a play in London will be substituted).
Day 3LondonOxford/London (B,D) - Visit the prestigious university town of Oxford on your way back to London. Take a walking tour with your C.E. travel guide around the beautiful campus and visit Christ Church, which serves as the college chapel from c. 1200. Better known literary residents include poet W.H. Auden, Albert Einstein, and the Reverend C.L. Dodgson, alias Lewis Carroll and author of “Alice in Wonderland. Dinner will be included en route to our conveniently located three-star hotel in London.
Day 4LondonLondon (B,D) - Start your day familiarizing yourself in this historical yet fast-paced city. Join your C.E. travel guide with a panoramic London tour by bus, concluding at Buckingham Palace, to view the changing of the guard (if available). In the afternoon, we will walk along London’s Southbank to view Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. An optional lecture can be arranged on Shakespeare and his plays. This evening enjoy a show in the West End with dinner.
Day 5LondonKent/London (B,L) - Today's full-day excursion in Kent will be highlighted with one of England’s most romantic castles, Leeds Castle. Tour the royal residence for six of England’s medieval queens, a palace of Henry VIII, and a retreat for the powerful and influential. Then test yourself with your energy (and patience!) with the castle’s maze. Lunch will be included in the medieval Cathedral City of Canterbury, origin of Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. An optional tour of the Canterbury tales Visitor Center and/or Canterbury Cathedral can be arranged. Return to London for an evening at leisure.
Day 6BathHampshire/London-Bath (B) - Drive and tour the quaint village of Steventon, Hampsire, house of Jane Austen. Visit Jane Austen’s House and Winchester Cathedral where Jane is buried. Afternoon at leisure or opt to visit the amazing megalith circle, Stonehenge and the ancient city of Bath, famous for its hot springs. An optional fish ‘n chips dinner can be arranged too en route to London.
Day 7LondonLondon (B,D) - Visit the Dickens House Museum, where Charles Dickens and his family lived. Visit museums, sites or shops at your own leisure this afternoon. A farewell dinner will be included in a local pub; and opt for a sunset cruise on the Thames River, or an act-along Medieval banquet dinner.
Day 8LondonDepart London - Check-out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (depending on flight time)
